Canal houses — on the inside

Since my first visit in Amsterdam I was fascinated by the beauty of the canal houses. It wasn’t only the beautiful façades of Amsterdam houses that attracted me; I was curious to see what’s behind them. Of course, in Amsterdam you can peek through the big, curtain-less windows, and have a glimpse at the living rooms, but that only shows you a part of the house. Living here in the past six years, I had the opportunity to visit some of these houses and even live in one of them. But during the Open Monuments Days, I could admire the interiors of the most famous and beautiful canal houses in Amsterdam. What a treat that was!
