A walk in the lovely Oud-Zuid neighbourhood

Yesterday I had to pick up a book order from the Van Rossum bookstore, on Beethovenstraat, in the beautiful Oud-Zuid neighbourhood. Because it was a lovely sunny day and the area was buzzing with life (but in a pleasant, non crowded way), I decided to forget about all the other plans I had and just enjoy a walk around the neighbourhood. I don’t go too often to that area, but yesterday’s walk reminded me how beautiful that part of the city is and how I used to visit quite often when I lived in Rivierenbuurt.

The Oud-Zuid (Old South) neighbourhood is known as one of the poshest area of the city. I think it’s more of a mix, consisting in both residential areas — very quiet, children playing in the streets, and posh streets — where cafés and boutiques are tempting you from each corner. I started my walk in the more residential Apollobuurt and went through Schinkelbuurt and Willemspark all the way up to the Museum Quarter. I visited a few shops and made a stop for tasty rose&lychee flavoured macarons at Macaron and a coffee at Le Pain Quotidien.

Such a lovely place! I can’t wait to go back there another weekend! I also took a lot of pictures, of course. Here are some, to give you a glimpse of the Oud-Zuid:
