Although the image of an orange city, formed during Queen’s Day, is not that far and still remains in my mind, I must say that for me the colour of Amsterdam is RED. The city’s coat of arms has a red background and maybe that’s why the locals love this colour. Many houses have red painted doors or window shutters, there is of course the well known red-light district, with red curtains and red, well… lights; and I even found a shop that only sells red products (from clothes to home decorations).
