The most famous park of Amsterdam: Vondelpark
Having the privilege of many sunny days in a row this week, I thought it a must to visit Amsterdam’s famous Vondelpark. I joined therefore the army of people determined to get as much sunlight as they could and went for a walk. The park is situated near Museumplein, Van Gogh Museum and Rijkmuseum, making it easy for tourists to visit and rest after a long tour.
It is a great place for relaxation, open air sports, picnics (if you can find a place to lay your blanket), dog walking, bird watching and anything else you need a park for! There are a few cafes and during summer people can enjoy free concerts and even an open-air theatre.
The name Vondelpark is taken after the Dutch poet Joost van den Vondel whose statue is situated in the park.
You can also find there a sculpture by Pablo Picasso, named The fish. As you can see the park invites creativity, and it’s not unusual to see people sitting on a bench or on the grass composing music and poetry, or painting a new masterpiece.
In the next few photos you’ll see how beautiful this place can be in March.
