Super Full Moon – March 2011

Once every 18 or so years, a rare celestial event brings a majestic sight over the night skies: the Moon is at its perigee (the closest it ever comes to the Earth in its elliptical orbit) and it coincides with a Full Moon. This makes it appear larger and brighter, and also causes all the funky full-moon effects to triple (if you believe in those things).

The weather in Amsterdam was uncharacteristically sunny during the week-end, and a very clear and warm night brought perfect observing conditions for the Super Moon… Here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure.
