The green birds of Amsterdam

My initial surprise about the green parakeets living in Amsterdam is now long gone. But I’m still excited every time I see these beautiful green birds flying from tree to tree or visiting my balcony in their search for food. Seeing the budgies up-close doesn’t happen often, that’s why I was very happy to find a feeding spot in the Jordaan neighbourhood, where I could watch them feed and quarrel about who gets the best seeds or best place on the tree.

Aren’t they just super cute?!

  1. So sweet! I think I have never seen these birds before over here. Amsterdam is so unexpectedly full of wildlife 😊

    • I’ve noticed them since my first year in Amsterdam. They are the ones making loud sounds in the trees in Westerpark, I’m sure you heard them before 🙂
