This week the weather was extraordinary, at least for a few days! It was so hot that people almost melted… at least the ones accustomed to Dutch weather anyway. To cool down a little, here are some pictures from last week, when the rain seemed like it would never stop, and the clouds were dark and heavy.

I like how the air smells after a good summer rain — so fresh and mixed with the smell of wet soil. I also love the atmosphere: people seem to be quieter, all noise is fading, houses have brighter colours, the grass and flowers are full of little water droplets and the puddles on the street appear to reflect everything.

Well, it’s not like I don’t have the opportunity to enjoy that almost every week in Amsterdam 🙂
