Sail Amsterdam 2015 – people and their boats

Three weeks have passed since the end of Sail festival Amsterdam, and all the beautiful tall ships have left the IJhaven. Facebook feeds are no longer full of boats images, but I can’t help going through my pictures of the event every now and then. It was a great show and I feel like there’s more to show and tell about it.
One of the great things about this festival, in my opinion, was the fact that anyone with a boat could participate. The show wasn’t only made up of the tall, impressive ships, but also the multitude of medium and small boats that came to Amsterdam from all corners of the Netherlands. I have to admit I felt a bit jealous, seeing all those boats moored up on improvised peers, the owners just living there for a few days — a short holiday spent in the heart of the festival. I can only imagine how great it would be to wake up there in the morning, in the silence of the port, before the waves of visitors started to arrive!
