Winter is not really a season that invites you for long walks outdoors. At least not for me. But since I recently registered to a 10.000 steps competition organised by the company I work for, I walked a lot in the past two weeks. I am very competitive, you know. My goal is to be in the top 10 all the time until the end of this competition (and, hopefully, to create a habit of walking more each day).

This walking madness brought me good opportunities for taking pictures of Amsterdam at moments when it shouldn’t normally happen: early in the morning, taking the long route to the office, or on foggy days and cold nights. If I don’t have the camera with me, I get bored of walking more than one hour in the city.

The winter mornings, especially the sunny ones, have a special light. This is what we’re missing when we are in a rush to get to work, not paying attention to our surroundings:

Next time, slow down and look around you!
