Summer!

It was not the first, but the second day of summer when I took these pictures. The 2nd of June is a “bank holiday” in the Netherlands. The mighty Weather Goddess was generous this time around and gave us a warm and sunny day — as a result the city was in a holiday mood with everyone out in the sun making barbecue, drinking with friends and especially sunbathing. The roses were in full bloom, as were many other flowers, decorating the scene… It’s on a day like this that the cozy, village like atmosphere of Amsterdam is most apparent.
