Indonesian restaurant: Long Pura

I am a big fan of Indonesian cuisine. Actually, after my mom’s food, it is my second favourite food in the world at the moment. I discovered it only a few years ago, when I moved to the Netherlands. I’ve never tried ‘real’ Indonesian food, because I haven’t visited the country (yet). But I like the Dutch version very much, and I’m proud of myself for being able to handle a respectable level of spiciness. The best way to enjoy the Indonesian food is definitely the rijsttafel, which I found out it’s actually a Dutch invention: a mix of different dishes, so you can taste many of them at once.
I have a few preferred restaurants in Amsterdam, but Long Pura is the one I visit most often. It’s situated in the center of the city, on Rozengracht. The entrance is not particularly inviting (and I think they should do something about that), but, inside, the place is very cosy and pretty, while being quite spacious. I love the decoration and the way the (friendly) staff are dressed! But, most of all, I love the food. My absolute favourites are the spicy tofu soup, the yellow rice baked in banana leaves and… oh well, all the rest from the vegetarian rijsttaffel!
Here are a few photos from my last visit, when I went there to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend:
