A beer at the windmill: Brouwerij ‘t Ij

I’m a real fan of local beers and one of my favourites is the I.P.A. from Brouwerij ‘t Ij (The Ij Brewery) in Amsterdam. Although I can find this beer all over the city and in plenty of pubs, from time to time I enjoy drinking it at the place where it is brewed.

The microbrewery ‘t Ij, situated in the Oost neighbourhood next to a windmill, has a pub and a great terrace that is perfect to visit in summer with friends. I don’t particularly like the pub itself (although I heard it’s been renovated now and looks much better), so I prefer to sit outside and enjoy the sun and the fun crowds.

The brewery also offers small tours, giving you insight into how they produce their tasty beers, but be sure to check their website for the right schedule and to make an appointment.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the spring to come and bring some sunny days like this:
